How do u get rid of tonsil stones?

i recently went to the doctor and she had informed me that i have tonsil stones! so i have been gargling my mouth with salt water for the past couple of days. i haven't seen much improvement but i notices my tonsil stone have been spreading on the inside of my left tonsil. I just wanted to know is there a faster way to get rid of the tonsil stone and how long will it take?
