How often do i have to do a water change?

I have a 55gal salt water tank with some polyps and demsel fish and live rock and sand how often do I have to make a water change my LFS told me once a month but I heard different from other people any suggestions would be greatly appreciated THANK YOU. Btw I plan on only keeping some hardy fish and polyps that’s it nothing to exciting or sensitive nothing that requires special attention
